Global leader Korea Engineering Plastics expands product portfolio with KEPITAL H100, a next generation homopolymer
A next generation homopolymer

October 2016 – This month, Korea Engineering Plastics (KEP) expands its already robust line of technical polymers with the introduction of Kepital® H100, a new polyacetal homopolymer. Already a leading producer of polyacetal (POM) copolymers, KEP recognized the need for innovation in the homopolymer category.
This is especially important since it has been nearly two decades since the industry last expanded homopolymer capacity. A global solutions provider focused on innovation, KEP is eager to serve those customers looking for best-in-class polyacetal homopolymers. A high viscosity, unfilled polyacetal (POM) homopolymer, Kepital® H100 is made using state-of-the-art, patented technology. It has all the mechanical properties customers expect from a homopolymer, but features next-generation attributes including:

 

  • Wider processing window
  • Enhanced thermal aging and color stability
  • Improved friction and wear properties
  • Improved creep resistance


This innovation positions KEP as a global provider of both copolymer and homopolymer POM solutions, creating a “one-stop-shop” for customers searching for polyacetals for various applications. “Kepital® H100 is setting new standards within the polyacetal family. With the development of Kepital® H100, a highly viscous
homopolymer type (MFR: 2.2 g/10 min), we have introduced a homopolymer with enhanced features based on state of the art process technology,” says John Caamano, President and CEO of Korea Engineering Plastics. “Its excellent processability and good mechanical properties opens up entirely new options for our customers to manufacture sophisticated technical components out of Kepital®.”

Kepital® H100 has many applications, says Gerhard Kalab, Executive Director of KEP Europe—including gears. “Gears are important functional components that are subject to the highest requirements for quality,” Kalab says. “Because of its outstanding material properties, Kepital® H100 is especially well suited for producing plastic gears. In addition to excellent abrasion resistance and low noise generation,
Kepital® H100 is especially impressive in its low coefficient of friction when used as a mating material of either metal or plastic.”
